American-made. No, really. You hear “Made in America” in the watch world and it usually means “assembled in a warehouse next to a vending machine in Ohio.” But Weiss?
They meant it. Machined, finished, and built in the U.S.—by people who actually know what they’re doing.
It’s a young brand with an old-school soul. Tool watch guys, pay attention.
Founded in 2013 by Cameron Weiss, a watchmaker trained in Switzerland (WOSTEP grad, if you're into credentials), the brand set out to do something most modern
companies wouldn’t even try: bring full-scale watchmaking back to the United States.
He started in Los Angeles, eventually moving to Tennessee. But from day one, the mission was clear — design and manufacture mechanical watches in-house, using as
many U.S.-made components as possible.
And he pulled it off. The Weiss Caliber 1003 is a hand-finished movement made in America. Bridges, mainplates, screws — cut and crafted domestically.
That’s rare. Like, unicorn-rare.
Weiss doesn’t have a sprawling catalog, but what they do have is focused and refined:
If you’re into vintage Hamilton or old-school mil-spec pieces but want something modern, this is your lane.
Weiss hits that rare trifecta: independent, mechanical, and American-made. For collectors who love a story — and some real watchmaking integrity — it’s hard to beat.
These are watches you wear, not vault. They’ve got the build quality to take a beating, the design restraint to go with anything, and the movement credibility to
satisfy even the Swiss snobs.
Plus, let’s be real — in a sea of hype drops and anonymous microbrands, Weiss actually stands for something.
Weiss is still small, still independent, and still doing it their way. The production numbers are low. The quality is high. And while they’re not releasing new models every
five minutes, that’s kind of the point.
Think of them as the watch world’s version of a boutique motorcycle builder. Precise, passionate, no shortcuts.
I respect the hell out of Weiss.
I’ve seen too many brands talk a big game about “heritage” or “authenticity” while outsourcing everything to a factory in Shenzhen. Weiss actually builds stuff.
And they do it in a way that feels honest.
If you want a clean, tough, hand-wound field watch that doesn’t pretend to be more than it is — this is it.
Delray Watch is always on the lookout for Weiss watches — especially American Issue Field and in-house movement models.
