Locman Watches

Locman Watches

Locman is Italian style with a rebel streak — known for ultralight cases, bold color palettes, and offbeat proportions, all dreamed up on the island of Elba.

They’re not trying to look Swiss. They’re not chasing vintage. Locman builds watches that are modern, weird, and proudly Italian — and that’s exactly what makes them fun.

A Little History

Founded in 1986 on the island of Elba (off the coast of Tuscany), Locman started as a design-first brand focused on lightweight materials and wearable sports watches.

From the beginning, they leaned into titanium, carbon fiber, and bright dial colors, long before that became trendy.

By the early 2000s, Locman became one of the first Italian brands to make watches entirely from carbon fiber and titanium — and they caught fire with athletes, celebrities

and military units alike.

Today, Locman remains independent and operates its own movement development lab, called S.I.O. (Scuola Italiana di Orologeria). While many models still use quartz or Swiss

automatics, they’ve also started developing Italian-made mechanical calibers, signaling a more serious horological direction beneath the bold styling.

What Collectors Love

Locman is a love-it-or-leave-it brand — and that’s exactly the point.

They’re known for:

  • Wild case shapes — tonneau, barrel, asymmetric, or cushion styles

  • Bold materials — carbon fiber, titanium, aluminum, even bioceramic blends

  • Bright dials and straps — often with Italian color references or sport/lifestyle cues

  • Lightweight builds — many watches weigh under 100g

  • Sport-forward identity — often associated with motorsports, yachting, and the Italian military

Fan-favorite models include:

  • Montecristo — Locman’s flagship diver, with a skeletonized lugs and carbon/titanium cases

  • Stealth — ultra-light, sleek sport watch with quartz or auto movement options

  • Ducati x Locman Collabs — motorbike-inspired chronographs and limited editions

  • Tremila & Mare Series — colorful casual watches built for summer wear

  • Automatic Carbon — recent releases featuring S.I.O.-built mechanical movements

Why Locman Deserves a Spot

Because it’s one of the only Italian brands making modern, lightweight sports watches with character — not just rehashing heritage.

Locman watches wear easy, look wild, and feel like they were designed for the beach, the boat, or the backroads — not a Geneva showroom. And if you want to support independent watchmaking

outside the Swiss sphere, Locman’s dedication to local manufacturing and material innovation deserves respect.

They’re fun, fast, and a little flashy — and sometimes, that’s exactly what the wrist calls for.

What’s Out There Now

Locman’s catalog is constantly evolving, but core models include:

  • Montecristo Classic / Carbon / Moon Phase — 44–46mm, automatic or quartz, bold skeleton lugs

  • Stealth Series — angular tonneau cases, 41–43mm, featherlight build

  • Island / Mare / 1960 Series — affordable quartz models with beachwear aesthetics

  • Ducati Limited Editions — chronographs with racing-inspired dials and straps

  • S.I.O. Automatics — newer lines with Italian-made calibers, sapphire crystals, and refined case finishes

Pricing ranges from $350 to $2,500, with quartz dominating the low end and automatic/LE pieces pushing higher.

Fed’s Take

Locman is one of those brands that makes me smile when one shows up.

Is it traditional? No. Is it for everyone? Definitely not. But they own their look. The Montecristo is a beast of a summer watch — light, funky, and full of personality. And I respect that

they’re building their own movements now, not just sourcing off-the-shelf.

If you want a vacation-ready watch with Italian swagger, Locman’s got you covered.
