Faberge Watches

Fabergé Watches

You hear Fabergé, you think eggs — and for good reason. But if you stop there, you’ll miss one of the most quietly impressive modern watchmakers in the game.

Yes, it’s a jewelry house. But it’s also a brand that’s partnered with some of the most respected independent watchmakers alive to create real mechanical marvels

— the kind that win GPHG prizes and stop collectors mid-scroll.

A Little History

Founded in 1842 in St. Petersburg by Gustav Fabergé, the name became world-famous under his son Peter Carl Fabergé, whose workshop created the legendary Imperial Easter

Eggs for the Russian Tsars — jeweled, mechanical, and meticulously detailed.

After the Russian Revolution, Fabergé went dormant. But in the 21st century, the brand was revived as a high-end jeweler, now headquartered in London and

owned by Gemfields Group.

And in 2015, Fabergé stunned the watch world by launching serious haute horlogerie timepieces, developed in partnership with Jean-Marc Wiederrecht’s Agenhor

— one of the most respected independent movement creators working today.

What Collectors Love

Fabergé watches are beautiful, rare, and technically impressive — with a unique mix of jewelry aesthetics and real watchmaking chops.

Key models include:

  • Fabergé Visionnaire DTZ — a dual time zone watch with a centralized jump-hour display and peripheral local time ring. Pure Agenhor magic. Winner of the 2016 GPHG Travel Time Watch Prize.

  • Visionnaire Chronograph — built around the AgenGraphe, widely considered the most advanced chronograph movement of the modern era (also used by Singer Reimagined and others).

  • Fabergé Lady Compliquée — poetic time displays, including a fan-shaped retrograde display that unfurls like a peacock tail or opens like a blooming egg.

  • Altruist and Flirt — elegant, minimal, time-only dress watches that carry the Fabergé DNA without the mechanical fireworks.

Movements are developed in Switzerland by Agenhor, with hand-finishing, lateral thinking complications, and bespoke architecture. You’re getting something very few

brands can offer — and even fewer deliver with this level of style.

Why Fabergé Deserves Watch Collector Respect

Because they could’ve phoned it in — slapped quartz into jeweled cases and called it a day. But instead, they partnered with real movement artists, created original complications

and built watches that are as legitimate as anything coming out of independent Switzerland.

The AgenGraphe chronograph movement alone is a micromechanical masterpiece. The fact that you can get one in a Fabergé — with their legacy, materials, and finishing — is wild.

And unlike most haute independents, no one sees these coming. They’re still under the radar. Which makes them even better.

What’s Out There Now

Fabergé’s collection remains small and curated, focused on limited production:

  • Visionnaire DTZ and Chronograph — 43mm cases, multiple colorways, precious metal and titanium options

  • Lady Compliquée — artistic, retrograde-driven creations with jewelry-level finishing

  • Flirt and Altruist — classic dress models in gold, steel, or diamond variations

  • Occasional High Jewelry Pieces — combining enamel, gem-setting, and miniature automatons

Pre-owned? Extremely rare — but a few Visionnaire Chronographs and DTZs surface each year, often at shockingly fair prices given the movement quality and build.

Fed’s Take

Fabergé watches are what happen when legacy, artistry, and innovation actually get along.

I’ve handled the Visionnaire DTZ — and it’s stunning. Clean, futuristic dial. Gorgeous central jump-hour window. The kind of piece that turns heads without shouting.

The Agenhor movement is legit. The finishing? Up there with the best.

If you’re looking for independent horology with style, brains, and pedigree, Fabergé is one of the most underappreciated names in the game.
