Daniel JeanRichard Watches

Daniel JeanRichard Watches

Daniel JeanRichard is one of those brands that collectors whisper about in forums — usually followed by a sentence like: “Honestly? These are way better

than the prices suggest.”

It’s a name with deep roots in Swiss watchmaking, a brief flash of modern relevance, and a catalog full of sleeper hits that are still flying under the radar.

A Little History

The name comes from Daniel JeanRichard, a 17th-century watchmaker widely credited with helping establish the Swiss watch industry in the Jura

mountains. The modern brand? That story kicks off much later.

In the late ‘90s, Sowind Group (the folks behind Girard-Perregaux) revived the JeanRichard name as a contemporary offshoot — aiming to blend

heritage with modern design and attract a new generation of collectors.

From around 1995 to 2015, Daniel JeanRichard (later shortened to just JeanRichard) released a steady stream of watches — often powered by GP

movements, with sharp casework and solid build quality — but never quite caught the market’s attention the way it deserved.

What Collectors Love

This is where things get interesting. Because for the money? These are seriously underrated.

Watch fans love:

  • Aeroscope Chronographs — tough, titanium sports watches with racing roots and clean dial layouts.

  • Terrascope — maybe the best-known line, with a cushion case, integrated lugs, and tons of dial options.

  • Diverscope — dual crown compressor-style divers with real wrist presence and heritage charm.

  • 1681 Collection — their more refined dressier pieces, with in-house GP-based movements.

You’ll often find great finishing, display casebacks, solid movements, and modern sizing — all for prices that make you do a double take.

Why Daniel JeanRichard Is a Hidden Gem

Because it quietly checked every box: Swiss made, good movements, modern design, actual brand history — and it never went mainstream.

That’s good news for collectors. Because right now, these watches represent some of the best value in the pre-owned market. You’re getting Girard-

Perregaux DNA, thoughtful design, and wearable versatility for under $2K in many cases.

The brand hasn’t produced anything new in years — which only adds to the appeal. The good ones are drying up. And those who know? Are already hunting.

What’s Out There Now

JeanRichard hasn’t released anything new since around 2016, and there’s no official word on a comeback. But the secondhand market is full of gems.

Look for Terrascope variants in steel or PVD, Diverscopes with textured dials, and the rarer 1681 small seconds with GP calibers. Some pieces are

borderline steals, especially considering the original MSRP.

They won’t last at these prices forever.

Fed’s Take

I’ve said it before — JeanRichard watches are one of the best values in the game.

They’ve got that sleeper energy: well-made, underappreciated, and just different enough to feel like you’re in on something most people missed. I’ve

flipped a few over the years and always felt like the buyer got a win.

If you want something with real Swiss credentials that won’t break the bank? Don’t sleep on JeanRichard.
