Pierre Kunz Watches

Pierre Kunz Watches

Pierre Kunz isn’t a household name — and honestly, that’s part of the appeal.

This is the kind of brand that pops up in serious collector circles with a raised eyebrow and a “wait… who made that?” response. The designs are bold. The

complications are legit. And the wrist presence? Impossible to ignore.

If you know, you know. And if you don’t… well, buckle up.

A Little History

Pierre Kunz, both the man and the brand, comes out of the Franck Muller school of horological madness — which should tell you something right away.

After studying traditional watchmaking in Geneva and cutting his teeth at various high-end maisons, Kunz became one of the founding creators at the

Franck Muller Group’s “Manufacture Genevoise 1.”

In 2002, he launched his own eponymous brand under the same umbrella. His mission? Combine traditional complications — retrogrades, perpetuals,

tourbillons — with wildly modern designs. Think oversized Roman numerals, asymmetrical displays, and architectural case shapes that lean more “art

gallery” than “boardroom.”

What Collectors Love

Pierre Kunz watches are not subtle. They’re statement pieces — and they back it up with serious horology.

Highlights include:

  • The Retrograde Seconds models — with double or triple retrograde displays that are as mesmerizing as they are mechanically impressive.

  • The Spirit Diver Tourbillon — yes, a tourbillon diver, because why not?

  • The Insanity Perpetual Calendars — often with retrograde days and dates, moonphases, and more, jammed into oversized cases with curved sapphire crystals.

These pieces tend to be limited in production, occasionally one-offs, and almost always powered by in-house or heavily modified calibers. If you want

something nobody else at the meetup is wearing — this is your brand.

Why Pierre Kunz Still Matters

Even in a world obsessed with hype and resale value, there’s a group of collectors who chase originality and mechanical creativity.

Pierre Kunz speaks to them.

These watches aren’t about flexing logos. They’re about respecting the craft, pushing design boundaries, and maybe making your friends Google what’s

on your wrist.

And because the brand hasn’t been aggressively marketed in years? Many of these high-complication pieces trade for far less than they would if they

had Patek or Lange on the dial. That’s what we call collector opportunity.

What’s Out There Now

Pierre Kunz hasn’t been producing watches at scale for a while — which only adds to the mystique. But you’ll still find pieces floating through high-end

pre-owned channels, private sales, and yes… occasionally right here at Delray.

From sporty retrogrades to moonphase dress watches with wild typography, every Kunz piece feels like a story waiting to be told. If you're into

avant-garde design backed by real horology — this is one of the best-kept secrets in the game.

Fed’s Take

I’ve only had a few Kunz pieces come through my hands over the years — but every single one made me pause.

There’s a real “what the hell is this… and why do I love it?” moment when you first strap one on. They’re not for everyone — and that’s the point.

These aren’t watches for guys who want to blend in. They’re for the ones who know their tourbillons from their TikToks and aren’t afraid to show it.
