Glashütte Original is German high watchmaking at its cleanest, sharpest, and most underrated.
Often overshadowed by the Swiss giants, GO quietly builds in-house movements, handmade dials, and complications that rival — and sometimes exceed — anything from Geneva.
If you care more about what’s inside the case than who wears it on Instagram, Glashütte Original is your brand.
The roots of Glashütte Original go back to 1845, when Ferdinand Adolph Lange and other German watchmakers began building a Saxon watch industry in the town of
Glashütte, near Dresden.
After WWII, most of these brands were nationalized under GUB (Glashütter Uhrenbetrieb), the state-run East German watchmaker.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, GUB was restructured and privatized as Glashütte Original in the 1990s, with a focus on in-house watchmaking and traditional Saxon craftsmanship.
Today, GO is owned by the Swatch Group, but operates independently — with its own movement designs, finishing standards, and in-house dial manufacture (one of the
few brands to have that capability).
GO is beloved by connoisseurs and collectors who want haute horology without the hype tax. Standout features include:
Popular models include:
Because it’s one of the few brands offering true high horology at scale — without cutting corners or chasing celebrity placements.
Their movements are legit works of art — and not just on a spec sheet. GO finishes its calibers to a standard that rivals Lange (their next-door neighbor), but with a
more contemporary price tag. And their in-house dial work is world-class — just look at a Sixties Gradient dial under sunlight.
GO watches feel substantial, refined, and totally collector-worthy — whether you’re into sporty divers or handcrafted moonphase displays.

Glashütte Original is the insider’s pick — and for good reason.
I’ve had PanoMaticLunars and Sixties Chronos come through, and they’re stunning. The dials pop. The movements are finished to a level you’d expect from watches double the price.
And they wear so comfortably, with just the right mix of old-school elegance and modern build.
If you want a real-deal luxury watch that’s not screaming for attention, GO hits the sweet spot.
Delray Watch is always on the lookout for unique Glashütte Original watches — especially PanoMaticLunar, Senator Chronograph, and SeaQ models.
