Farer Watches

Farer Watches

Farer is British design with a playful vintage twist — turning out colorful, well-spec’d mechanical watches that are fun, functional, and surprisingly collectible.

If you like cushion cases, compressor divers, GMTs with flair, or chronographs that don’t take themselves too seriously, Farer is the microbrand to watch.

A Little History

Founded in 2015 by a trio of British entrepreneurs, Farer set out to build mechanical watches that blend 1960s explorer vibes with modern reliability. They’re based in the UK

with Swiss-made movements and cases, and they release small-batch collections that tend to sell out fast — especially their chronographs and GMTs.

Farer takes its name from “seafarer”, and most models are named after British explorers, navigators, and adventurers, tying the brand to a romantic

analog age of travel and discovery.

What Collectors Love

Farer punches well above its price in terms of design originality, color usage, and wearable specs. They’re known for:

  • Bright, bold dial colors — often with sunburst, fumé, or multi-texture finishes

  • Swiss automatic movements — Sellita SW200, SW330 GMT, or Dubois-Depraz chronograph modules

  • 38.5mm to 41mm case sizes — modern proportions with vintage inspiration

  • Box sapphire crystals and 100m+ water resistance on most models

  • Clean branding — the name is there, but never dominates the dial

Popular models include:

  • Lander GMT — classic dual-time traveler with pops of color and slim profile

  • Chrono-Classic line (like the Bernina) — colorful bi-compax chronographs with retro styling

  • Aqua Compressor Diver — dual-crown internal bezel diver with a mix of matte and gloss dial finishes

  • World Timer series — Sellita-powered travel watches with rotating city discs

  • Three-Hand Automatics (Stanhope, Resolute, etc.) — often overlooked but beautifully executed

Why Farer Deserves a Spot

Because it’s proof that good design and Swiss mechanics don’t have to be boring.

Farer makes watches that are fun to wear, photograph, and talk about — and they back it up with solid build quality, great straps, and thoughtful case finishing.

Everything feels premium without the attitude. And they’re not afraid to take risks with color — which makes their lineup feel refreshingly personal.

They also keep pricing honest. For what you’re getting — Swiss autos, sapphire, and creative design — it’s one of the better values in the enthusiast space.

What’s Out There Now

Farer releases watches in limited production runs, often refreshing colorways seasonally. Expect:

  • Automatic GMTs (Lander, Charlton, Ponting) — 39.5mm, SW330, 100m WR

  • Chrono-Classics (Bernina, Cobb, Segrave) — Dubois-Depraz movement, bi-compax layout

  • Three-Hand Automatics (Resolute, Stanhope II) — 36–38.5mm, SW200

  • Dive Watches (Aqua Compressor) — 41mm, dual crown, 300m WR

  • World Timers (Markham, Aldrich) — rotating inner disc, clean traveler layout

Most models retail between $895 and $2,200, with special editions occasionally climbing higher.

Fed’s Take

Farer is fun, wearable, and way better built than you’d expect for the price.

I’ve had a few of their GMTs and chronos in-hand, and they always feel tight — great wrist presence, creative dial details, and just the right balance of color and polish.

The Lander GMT is a personal favorite. And the Aqua Compressor is sneaky good as a go-anywhere piece.

If you want a mechanical watch that feels vintage-inspired but full of personality, Farer gets it right.
