Cvstos Watches

Cvstos Watches

Cvstos is what happens when you take Richard Mille energy and apply it to the outskirts of Geneva — with fewer commas on the price tag and a little

more “let’s try this” in the design department.

The name means “guardian” in Latin. The watches? Bold, skeletonized, and unapologetically over the top. Not everyone’s taste — but definitely someone’s flex.

A Little History

Cvstos was founded in 2005 by Sassoun Sirmakes (son of the Franck Muller Group CEO) and Antonio Terranova, a designer with stints at TAG Heuer

and other big Swiss names.

From the jump, Cvstos positioned itself as a modern, avant-garde watchmaker — focused on high-tech materials, openworked architecture, and

bold, sporty designs. Think tonneau cases, exposed mechanics, and racing-inspired everything.

They’re part of the extended Franck Muller ecosystem, but operate as their own entity — often compared to Richard Mille, Hublot, or Linde Werdelin for

style and ambition.

What Collectors Love

If you like your watches loud, skeletonized, and full of carbon fiber, Cvstos delivers.

Top collections include:

  • Challenge — tonneau-shaped case with skeletonized movement, date wheels, and bold dial elements. The most “Cvstos” of them all.

  • Jetliner — lighter, more aviation-inspired designs, often in titanium or forged materials.

  • Sealiner — a yachting-themed lineup with marine design cues, rubber straps, and plenty of visual flash.

Movements are typically high-end Swiss (mostly from Concepto or Soprod), often heavily modified and openworked. Finishing is industrial, sometimes

over-polished, but always dramatic.

Why Cvstos Has Its Fans

Because it fills a very specific niche: modern skeleton sport watches that are flashy, complex-looking, and mechanically solid — without the seven-

figure price tag.

Yes, it’s a vibe. No, it’s not subtle. But for collectors who like big cases, technical dials, and brands that don’t follow rules, Cvstos is genuinely

compelling.

Also: the fit and finish have improved a lot in the past few years. The watches feel substantial. The details are better. And the materials (carbon,

ceramic, titanium) are the real deal.

What’s Out There Now

Cvstos continues to evolve the Challenge line with chrono models, tourbillons, and skeletonized calendar complications. Recent limited editions have

leaned into motorsport, marine, and aviation themes — often with colorful accents and aggressive dial layouts.

They’ve also embraced see-through sapphire cases and open bridges in ways that push them further into haute-industrial territory.

Resale can be soft, which means deals can be had on the pre-owned side — especially on Jetliner and Challenge chronos.

Fed’s Take

I’ll be honest — Cvstos isn’t my personal taste. But I’ve sold enough of them to know there’s a real market out there.

The movements are solid. The cases wear well despite the size. And if you’re the kind of guy who wants attention, this gets it — especially if you’re

already maxed out on Hublot and want to zag a little.

They’re not for everyone. But if they’re for you? Own it.
