Alexander Shorokhoff Watches

Alexander Shorokhoff Watches

Alexander Shorokhoff is where art school meets horology — a fiercely independent brand blending Russian avant-garde inspiration with German watchmaking discipline.

These are not watches for the shy. They’re for collectors who want color, typography, asymmetry, and soul — all backed by serious mechanical chops and hand-finished detail.

If you like your watches expressive and expertly made? This is one to watch closely.

A Little History

Founded in Germany in 2003 by Alexander Shorokhoff, a Russian-born engineer and designer, the brand draws heavily on early 20th-century Russian art, architecture

and poetry — think Kandinsky, Malevich, and Tolstoy, rendered in enamel, guilloché, and brushed steel.

Shorokhoff set up production in Alzenau, Bavaria, with a small team focused on hand-finishing, skeletonization, and low-volume mechanical builds — mostly using ETA

Poljot, and Sellita base movements, reworked in-house.

The result? Timepieces that are visually bold, philosophically grounded, and mechanically respected in collector circles worldwide.

What Collectors Love

Shorokhoff watches are artful, eccentric, and detail-obsessed. They’re a favorite among collectors who appreciate:

  • Unusual case shapes and dial layouts

  • Hand-engraved movements and bridges

  • Oversized numerals, asymmetry, and color-blocking

  • Russian artistic references, with German mechanical execution

  • Limited production runs — most pieces are made in small batches or numbered series

Fan-favorite models include:

  • Avantgarde Collection — oversized numerals, clashing textures, bold colors

  • Chrono-Regulator — off-center time displays with regulator-style layouts

  • Heritage / Peter Tchaikovsky series — more classical, with heavy engraving and enamel work

  • Babylonian / Crossing / Sixtythree — skeletonized, architectural, or domed-dial designs

  • Tolstoy and Dostoevsky LEs — mechanical tributes to Russian literary icons

Why Alexander Shorokhoff Deserves a Spot

Because there’s nothing else quite like it.

These watches celebrate mechanical artistry — not just with polished movements or open hearts, but with full-on visual storytelling. And it’s not style over substance, either.

You’re getting Swiss or Russian base calibers, often upgraded, adjusted, and finished by hand — with German final assembly and QC.

In a world of lookalike dress watches and lazy microbrand homages, Shorokhoff offers genuine originality.

What’s Out There Now

Shorokhoff keeps a tight, curated lineup — expect:

  • 40–43mm cases, often cushion or rounded-square

  • Manual and automatic calibers, ETA 2824, 2892, Poljot 3133, Sellita SW300, etc.

  • Hand-engraved bridges, guilloché dials, and applied elements

  • Open-heart or skeleton options, with layered design

  • Power reserve indicators, regulator displays, and asymmetrical layouts

Pricing ranges from $1,500 to $6,000, with some LEs or engraved models reaching $10,000+. All watches are made in Germany in limited runs.

Fed’s Take

Alexander Shorokhoff is weird in the best way.

I’ve seen a few come through the shop — and whether it’s an Avantgarde chrono or one of the art-edition regulator pieces, they always make you pause. The dials are alive.

The engravings are next level. And the movements? Better finished than a lot of watches twice the price.

If you’re into watches that tell a story — and you’re not afraid of color or contrast — this brand gets it.
